We call space to infinite concepts. Space can be the given distance between two points. Space is also the air mass that hosted between walls, floor and ceiling. Space is the desired solitude we need in order to look inside, the eternity that opens up beyond the Earth and also the interior of a perimeter that delimits that which we want to protect; a natural, aerial or agricultural space. Yesterday and tomorrow, here and there, are infinite points in the temporal and physical space that we inhabit and that houses everything.
And what about the essence? Essence is what IS, matters and remains. Event context or circumstances change. It is what endures when we eliminate the superfluous, our fictions and frictions, layers that are pure noise and feed the chronic mental fatigue in which we live.
Translated into the spatial level, essence transcends the debate of beauty, form and function, and it connects us with a dreamlike dimension, revealing our most naked self. And essential space gives us an embrace to soothe, peace to dream and wings to fly. It allows us to retreat, gather and celebrate.
And on account of getting together and celebrating…which is the essence of a space in which you feel welcome?
Y a cuenta de reunirnos y celebrar…¿cuál la esencia de un espacio en el que te sientes bienvenido/a? Many of us have accepted invitations and ended up appearing at a lunch or dinner where, as soon as we crossed the threshold of the door, we felt that something was not right, that there was something contrived. Showing love for your guests is an art that is galaxies away from a calculated layout, a starred menu, the Parker rating of the wine, how well the table linen matches the upholstery or the position and surnames of those accompanying you.
The source of this elegance sprouts from improvisation, precisely in knowing you´ll be welcome with no prior notice. A place that welcomes you is a simple wooden table, chairs and plates from here and there (if they have a few nicks from use, all the better), forks that don’t match because they are a mixture of your in-laws’ silverware, the ones you forgot to return to the office and the one you took (unintentionally) from the hotel in Linarejos, simple delicacies from the pantry of ‘just in case’, ‘better too much than too little’ and ‘for special occasions’ (what could be more special than today? ), a vase of flowers picked on the morning walk, the snout of a dog sniffing at your knees and the faces and hands of your loved ones illuminated by candlelight.
Atmospheres where life blossoms. Environments that invite to connect, to be more human, more us, less machine-like. Walls, floors, ceilings and objects that ooze truth and affection. Spaces not conceived to be looked at in a magazine, but to be lived and make as live withmall our senses.

Thanks for reading; gather a lot and celebrate even more.
